National Flag of the Republic of Kazakhstan (1992)
Formerly part of the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) as the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic, Kazakhstan gained independence on the 16th of December 1991, during the collapse and break-up of the Soviet Union.
The current national flag was adopted on the 4th of June 1991.
The Symbolic Meaning
The Sky-Blue field is symbolic of the clear skies over the nation and signifies peace and well-being.
The soaring steppe eagle and the sun with 32 emanating rays represent freedom and the flight toward greater heights and fulfilment of aspiration.
The vertical pattern at the hoist is a national ornament.
