central emblem of the flag is a Dari, a traditional dancer's
headdress, a symbol representing all Torres Strait Islanders.
The five-pointed star represents the island groups in Torres
Strait and is also an important symbol of
seafaring people who navigate by the stars.
White represents peace. Green symbolises the
land. Blue connotes the sea and black represents the
people.
The
flag stands for the unity and identity of all Torres Strait Islanders.
